        It is widely agreed to be the most secure and privacy friendly instant messenger, its interface is very similar to Facebook WhatsApp and could be thought as a drop-in replacement for it. I am listing it here as a commitment of keeping my account there (under assumption they won't become another Facebook WhatsApp) and in hope that my contacts from Facebook WhatsApp may find Signal and me, if they end up on this page.

        Listed for confirming my identity. Used for not having electron and people/groups who are only on it (and worse platforms) as I am a human and miss some people and social groups. Don't use it for anything private (especially with me as if I have a contact with you on a more reliable channel, I may have to block you), the server code is closed, the security is a lie, Android app a mess (so I recommend a fork if you absolutely have to) and I wouldn't trust the desktop either, but a trusted non-Telegram source such as Debian main repository is the least bad option.

        As Telegram may change my username for not owning it on Facebook Facebook, Twitter or Facebook Instragram and refusing to use those services, I cannot list the username here and request confirming my identity on a more secure channel or by using the phone number. Used for not having electron and people/groups who are only on it (and worse platforms) as I am a human and miss some people and social groups.         It's the only fully end-to-end encrypted messaging platform that allows phone number registration on multiple platforms while supporting multiple devices (without depending on a single phone) and the messaging app I picked to replace Facebook WhatsApp for my family, I think it's my second preferred instant messaging platform after XMPP. I am also findable through email (myname AT myname DOT info) which can be used for registering instead (and/or in addition to) phone number. Wire doesn't have public profile links.
