I happened to notice that the GitHub documentation: https://docs.github.com/en/repositories/managing-your-repositorys-settings-and-features/customizing-your-repository/displaying-a-sponsor-button-in-your-repository#about-funding-files has a statement: > Funding links provide a way for open source projects to receive direct financial support from their community. We don’t support the use of funding links for other purposes, such as for advertising, or supporting political, community, or charity groups.
