I would like the client to be something I can login to once and pin the tab like for IRC, Gamja. KiwiIRC and ConverseJS require entering the credentials every time the page is loaded.

IRC has TheLounge which IIRC allows you to do that. XMPP I don’t know of such a “fully featured” web-client.

We have a sample setup of Converse.js on https://xmpp.liberta.casa, however it is bugged at the moment and will cause for frequent disconnects. Furthermore the current instance only supports anonymous logins, we would need to set up a second instance for users with existing accounts.
